The 2005 School Year Blows in with a Grand Entrance!

We had nineteen (19) Seniors graduated, six (6) Underclassmen were promoted, and twenty two (22) babies were capped from the Day Care from Batch 2004-2005. The graduates are well on their way to jobs, colleges and careers.

Our staff and volunteers are working 24hours, seven days a week. We have not stopped helping pregnant women in crisis aged 13 to 41 years old. It is overwhelming at times but, if we do not offer a compassionate net for the mothers who is left unassisted by all support people. Who should be there for her? We as a society have no right to say “don’t have an abortion.” We must always be people of compassion and action to put the net of protection around the mother. You are the action people who have aided us and the last 46,000 mothers and their babies. “TO SAVE THE MOTHER IS TO SAVE THE BABY & TO SAVE THE BABY IS TO SAVE THE MOTHER.”

I am sorry I have not kept everyone informed. I was brought into a huge successful graduation of 600 people who attended a wonderful ceremony. Followed by a busy summer of repair left over from last year hurricane. We were all busy interviewing new students, birthing babies and at the same time operating with a small summer staff. We had to wait months for our roofing shingles from last year’s hurricane, a large air conditioners had to be replaced, the roof over the laundry room, and the chimney over the water heater. Fourteen large trees had to be removed, our drain field on the septic tank redone, our whole residence had to replumbed, the water heater of 75 gallons replaced, a ramp outside the Day Care, our whole front porch and the inside of the laundry room. Now $30,000 later we are ready for the new school year!!!

SUCCESSFUL STORY

Mother Amy Collins, resident of St. Gerard House fought for her twin boys when she was a teenager. They were born premature 2lbs 8oz and 1lb 5oz they were not supposed to live. Amy fought for their lives from conception. They had a big battle of survival. They needed physical therapy for years and had a strong will to live. A mother’s love overcomes all of medical & social challenges. TWINS GRADUATED IN ST. AUGUSTINE HIGH SCHOOL 2005. “Prayers and Love.” GOD’S MIRACLES!!!

Dear Mrs. Carol,
This is Oleta “Noel” Rivers. It has been several years since I graduated from St. Gerard High School. In 1998, when I was sixteen and pregnant, you invited me to live at the St. Gerard House and to attend school there. I graduated in 1999, one year early and was named Salutatorian. Since then I have remained living on my own and am now a junior in college. Once I get my BA in Criminology, I plan on attending Florida Coastal School of Law located in Jacksonville, where I reside.

This is a long over due letter. I hold you very close to my heart for all of the help you so selflessly give young mothers who need it the most. I don’t know where I would be today If not for your guidance, support and encouragement. You truly are a blessing to unwed mothers. When I graduate and begin my career, it will make me so happy to help support your foundation. Mrs. Carol, you never let me down and I will never forget you.
I was visiting your website today and I saw the picture I took of you holding my daughter Veda and standing in front of George, who was born on the same day as Veda. I still have the original picture in my photo album. It may sound weird, but I am proud to see that picture on the website after all these years!
It was nice to finally write to you. GOD Bless and take care. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Oleta “Noel” Rivers
